St.
Vincents is a Special School for pupils experiencing Social,
Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). We cater for thirty
full-time pupils from all areas of Belfast. St. Vincents
was established nearly twenty years ago in response to a growing
need for full-time school places for an increasing number of excluded
pupils.
The organisation of the school is based on the mainstream model
in that each of the four class groups go to the teacher for lessons,
as against the pupils remaining in one classroom and the teacher
going to the class.
The full curriculum is taught at a level to suit the pupils
needs while curriculum enrichment is provided by various school
projects which are carried out with other agencies or community
groups. We work very closely with other agencies and community
groups and throughout the school year we usually have at least
one project running. Details of our current projects are available
on this website.

St.
Vincent's new website launch is on Monday 16th June. The project
has been funded by the Millennium Commission and is part of the
"My Community project". The website provides an ideal
opportunity for staff and pupils to exhibit the work of the school.
We hope that the website will help motivate pupils interest in
their curriculum studies and future projects and help further
their ICT skills. From a school perspective we would hope to encourage
an awareness of the work carried out by St. Vincent's.
ERC
Roadshow 17th June 2003
Jonathan Stewart from the European Resource Council is to bring
the E.R.C. Roadshow to St. Vincent's on Tuesday 17th June 2003.
All pupils will be invited to attend and avail of the resources.
We hope to encourage European Awareness. It is a great follow
up experience for our Spring Day in Europe last March and an opportunity
for us to introduce our citizenship programme in September. It
is an ideal extension of our "My Community" project
this year.
